Nwamaka Erika Korie is an Igbo-American multidisciplinary artist, writer, and filmmaker based in Baltimore. 

Her work explores intergenerational storytelling, archival practice, and community-centered healing. She is the founder of Mira Mma Studios—combining “mirror” with the Igbo phrase mara mma, meaning “beautiful”—where she creates affirmation art that inspires radical self-acceptance and celebration, and facilitates accessible, community-centered workshops in partnership with institutions such as the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Drawing from her Igbo heritage, her practice positions art as a living archive, illuminating collective healing through image-based and material storytelling that carries intergenerational memory and identity. As a writer and filmmaker, she centers African American coming-of-age narratives, historical documentation, and magical realism.

She also teaches African American history and media arts to K–12 students in Baltimore City.

Amaka earned her B.A. in Film and Television from Howard University’s Cathy Hughes School of Communications.
